KEY PLAYER
Former European Player of the Year Pavel Nedved rebuffed attempts to get him to cut short his retirement
for these finals, and Arsenal playmaker Tomas Rosicky more vital for country than club missed out through
injury. In the absence of captains past and present, Baros could again be key. Left his club form well behind
him to become top scorer at Euro 2004 with five goals, and the 30-year-old Portsmouth striker will need to
improve upon another disappointing season in Switzerland: he failed to score a single goal since joining
Pompey from Lyon in January.
