KEY PLAYER
Spent 18 months in inertia after joining Chelsea from Bayern Munich but regained his best form over the
last few months of the season to inspire the Stamford Bridge side to dual challenges on Manchester United's
supremacy. Moving from Chelsea's superstars to the familiar surrounds of the German national side could suit
Ballack - while he must share the ego-littered stratosphere at his club, few will be in any doubt about his
pre-eminence in Jogi Loew's squad. Ballack's career over the past six years has been a litany of near misses,
and he will hope to finally lay several ghosts to rest and lift a major trophy on June 29th.
