Stack arrested over alleged sex assault

Former Irish U21 international goalkeeper Graham Stack has been arrested along with another man in connection with an alleged sexual assault.

The Arsenal ‘keeper, who is currently on loan at Millwall for this season, was arrested along with another 22-year-old man after an allegation was made by a woman, who claims that the alleged assault took place in Beckenham, south-east London, early on Wednesday morning.

Stack, who is also aged 22, has been bailed along with the other man until 22 October.

Stack was a regular on the Arsenal bench all last season and was called up to the full Irish squad by Brian Kerr last year after impressing while playing in the Premiership champions run to the League Cup semi-finals.

Stack, of Kerry parents, grew up in London and has been attached to the Gunners since he was a schoolboy.

These allegations come on the back of a wave of such charges being made against high profile footballers. Earlier this year two Leicester footballers were charged with an alleged rape while a group of seven Premiership footballers were also alleged to have raped a women in a London hotel. Following detailed police investigation, it was found that none of the footballers had cases to answer.
